Description:
Met het hoogreliëf De menselijke driften herbergt het Museum voor Schone Kunsten een van de bekendste getuigenissen van de Belgische monumentale beeldhouwkunst aan het einde van de 19de eeuw. De versie in het museum is een afgietsel van de marmeren versie in het tempietto van Victor Horta in het Brusselse Jubelpark, dat enkele dagen na de opening op 1 oktober 1899 voor het publiek gesloten werd. Lambeaux’ reliëf toont de mensheid die onder de medelijdende blikken van de Christusfiguur gedomineerd wordt door de Dood.
