- Deze ets is een van de meest gedurfde uit Ensors grafische oeuvre. De voorstelling verwijst naar het schilderij “De val der opstandige engelen” van Pieter Bruegel (Brussel, Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten van België), de ets “De verzoeking van de heilige Antonius” van Jacques Callot en de fantastische figuren van Jheronimus Bosch. De ets is bovenal een hoogtepunt in Ensors eigen fantastische vormentaal.
