- Description:
- Tussen 1880 en 1917 woonde de familie Ensor op de hoek van de Vlaanderenstraat en de Van Iseghemlaan in Oostende. Hier heeft Ensor zijn belangrijkste werken gemaakt. Vanuit zijn atelier, dat zich bevond onder het pannendak, maakte hij verschillende schilderijen, tekeningen en prenten van de stad. Zo bracht hij in 1889 de Van Iseghemlaan, vernoemd naar de familienaam van een Oostendse burgemeester, in prent. Deze drogenaald in spiegelbeeld toont de laan in zuidwestelijke richting. Het gebouw rechts met de trapgevels en de torenspits is het inmiddels verdwenen klooster van de Zusters der Armen.
