De saloncatalogus van 1804 vermeldt: On voit , un berger avec son chien, conduisant un troupeau de trois boeufs, un taureau et une vache blanche à travers une piece d'eau remplie d'herbes et plantes aquatiques; vers la droite est un grouppe de différens arbres, et vers la gauche sur une colline est un homme à cheval qui s'arrête pour parler à une femme et deux garçons qui gardent quelques moutons; peint sur bois de mahoni; haut 28, large 40 pouces.
