- In de jaren 1962 – 1967 schakelt Delahaut een periode van “chromatische rust” in. Hij schildert quasi uitsluitend met zwart en wit. Die jaren worden ook wel eens de “periode van de ‘tekens’” genoemd, vanwege het feit dat de steeds groter wordende kleurvlakken een zogenaamd “signaalkarakter” krijgen. Signe n°3 (1962) uit de collectie van Mu.ZEE is een voorbeeld.
