- Amedée Cortier zoekt uit hoe hij een subtiele, vergeestelijkte spanning kan opwekken tussen kleurvlakken en kleurvormen. Door twee kleuren naast elkaar te plaatsen, gaan ze onderling resoneren. Er ontstaat een subtiel optisch effect, een illusie van beweging. De vorm is ondergeschikt aan de kleur. Veel van Cortiers werken zijn bijna symmetrisch opgebouwd. Sommige kleuren treden van nature eerder naar voren, zoals rood, en andere kleuren wijken meer naar achter zoals blauw. Door de kleuren naast elkaar te plaatsen, worden deze krachten opgewekt.
