- Dit kunstwerk heeft een opmerkelijke pedigree. Het schilderij komt uit de verzameling van Lilian Florsheim die het rechtstreeks van de kunstenaar verwierf. Ze gaf het een prominente plek in haar interieur. Florsheim was zelf een kunstenares die in de jaren 1950-1960 evolueerde naar meer abstractie. In dezelfde periode begon ze ook actief kunst te verzamelen en ondernam ze reizen naar Europa waarbij ze in contact kwam met Vantongerloo. Ze hielden jarenlang contact en correspondeerden over kunst maar evenzeer over persoonlijke en alledaagse besognes. In 1963 schreef ze naar Vantongerloo dat zijn werk alom werd geprezen.
