- Op de voorzijde van de plaquette bevindt zich president Carnot op zijn sterfbed, met naast hem een vrouw met rouwsluier. Op de keerzijde wordt de begrafenisstoet weergegeven. Marie-François Sadi Carnot was de derde generatie van een familie van Franse politici. Hij werd geboren in Limoges in 1837 en werd burgerlijk ingenieur. Hij werd lid van de Nationale Vergadering en steunde er Gambetta. In 1887 werd hij tot president van Frankrijk verkozen en bekleedde, door zijn onpartijdigheid, dit ambt met grote waardigheid. Hij kwam door een anarchistische aanslag om het leven in Lyon in 1894. Zijn begrafenis op 1 juli werd door Oscar Roty op treffende wijze vereeuwigd.
