- De prent "Mijn dode vader" stelt James Frederic Ensor (1835-1887) voor op zijn sterfbed. De prent is gebaseerd op een tekening uit 1887 (verzameling onbekend), die op zijn beurt gemaakt is naar een foto van de Oostendse fotograaf Eclair le Bon. Dit gevoelige portret getuigt van Ensors bewondering voor zijn vader, zoals ook blijkt uit een brief van de kunstenaar aan de kunstcriticus Jules Du Jardin: "Het was een man die veel wist en verscheidene talen sprak. Hij was opvallend mooi en sterk gebouwd. Hij had een edel voorhoofd en heel zijn persoon straalde van majesteit. Hij heeft mij altijd een soort angstig respect ingeboezemd. Hij was werkelijk een superieur man."
