Het thema van de Verzoeking van Christus speelt zich af in een boomrijk rivierlandschap. Op de voorgrond wijst de Duivel op een aantal stenen op de grond en daagt Christus uit ze in broden te veranderen. Op de top van de berg belooft hij Christus alle koninkrijken van de wereld (Matt. 4:1-11).
