- Ook in 1938 maakte hij een grote staande figuur, waarvan de kop en de opgeheven rechterarm zijn afgebroken. De benen zijn ook afgebroken, het linker tot aan de knie, het rechter tot aan de enkel. Op die manier probeerde Permeke de klassieke vormen te doorbreken en het werk meer expressiviteit te verlenen.
