- De schilderijen van de Belgische kunstenaar Bert De Beul baden in een wazige atmosfeer. Het werk is duidelijk figuratief, maar door het gebruik van een wazige techniek lijkt de werkelijkheid verder weg en krijgt het schilderij een abstract karakter. Inspiratie haalt De Beul uit zijn herinneringen en uit associaties met de werkelijkheid. Nooit schildert hij de werkelijkheid rechtstreeks. Deze persoonlijke en subjectieve relatie met het onderwerp voegt een spannende en geheimzinnige betekenis toe aan banale elementen uit het dagelijkse leven.
